Every scanned packaged food gets a score from 0 to 100, worked out by fixed rules (not by AI) from the nutrition label per 100 g or 100 ml. Points come off for high sugar, salt, saturated fat, calories, ultra-processing (NOVA group) and additives, and fibre and protein count in its favour. 75 and above is Good, 55 to 74 Okay, 35 to 54 Think twice, and below 35 Poor. The app shows the exact reasons behind each score. An AI-written explanation and a healthier alternative are added on top, based only on the label data. It is everyday guidance, not medical advice.
Product names, ingredients and nutrition facts come from Open Food Facts, a free, community-built product database (ODbL licence). Recent shop prices reported by the community come from Open Prices. If a barcode is missing or the label data is incomplete, we tell you rather than guess; you can still search the product by name.
Where we can find a live listing from a store, the price is marked as a live price. When no live listing is available, we show a clearly labelled estimate so you have a rough idea, plus links to check the stores yourself. Prices, delivery fees and stock change often, so always confirm the final price at the store before you pay. Some store links are affiliate links, which help keep KompareAI free at no extra cost to you.
Tap "Price drop alert" on a product (or save a search). The product is added to your saved list, and only then do we ask whether you want notifications; we never ask for permission out of the blue. We check prices regularly and send a notification when we find a lower live price. To stop alerts, turn off notifications for KompareAI in your phone or browser settings.
In the app, sign in, tap your profile circle (your initial) at the top right, choose "Delete account" and confirm. If it has been a while since you signed in, we will ask you to sign in again first. This permanently deletes your KompareAI sign-in account (your email, name and login), and, if you used Sign in with Apple, revokes KompareAI's access to your Apple ID. Your saved items and sign-in details on the device are cleared too. You can also use "Delete My Data" at the bottom of the home screen, or email support@kompareai.in.
No. Scanning, search, scores and prices work without signing in. Signing in (email, Google or Apple) is optional.
KompareAI is free because of ads. On iPhone, we ask for tracking permission (App Tracking Transparency) before any ads load; if you choose "Ask App Not to Track", you still get the full app with less relevant, non-personalised ads. On the web you choose between personalised and less relevant ads. We never sell your personal data. See the Privacy Policy for details.
